Mike Montana’s love for performing ignited at the tender age of six when he received his first guitar. It was during these early years that he and his mother would gather to play gospel hymns, sharing music with friends and family, and laying the foundation for a lifelong passion.
His high school years saw Mike dive deeper into music. Participating in the choir, he had a standout moment during a western-themed play where he took on the role of the Sheriff. With his acoustic guitar in hand, he performed two country songs solo, captivating the audience and earning a standing ovation. This electrifying response lit a fire in Mike that has fueled his performing career ever since.
The story behind Mike Osterloh’s stage name is as memorable as his performances. In 1986, while visiting Nashville, a meeting with a promoter proved pivotal. The promoter advised Mike to adopt a name that was catchy, memorable, and easy to pronounce. Dressed in pressed blue jeans, a western shirt, and a Black Resistol hat, the promoter remarked, “You look like you came from Montana. You are now Mike Montana!” From that moment on, a new musical identity was born.
Throughout his journey, Mike has traveled from Florida to California, honing his craft in various bands, duos, and solo acts. Today, as a dynamic solo artist, he brings a rich, layered sound to the stage, showcasing the culmination of a lifetime of musical experiences.
